Face known to Château-Gontier (Mayenne), Paul Hamon, barman at the Le Palais pub, is one of the people who chose to quit their job faced with the establishment of health pass.
“I had this decision in mind since late July-early August when the announcement of the implementation of the health pass in cafes, bars and restaurants (August 9, 2021)”, explains the young man of 28 years.
“At first, I did not check the entrances, but Philippe Houdus, co-owner of the Town Hall Bar and the Le Palais pub, reminded me”.
Since then, Paul has bent to the exercise of scanning, but now believes he has reached “the personal limit”. “I love working in bars, but I’m not not in the soul to fire clients and friends because they are not vaccinated, and even to control them, ”he continues.
“Once a gang of three friends came to the bar. I had to not serve one of the three who did not have the sanitary pass. As a result, he left. I was uncomfortable. “
Ni pro, ni anti-vaccine
A choice assumed with his family and loved ones.
“I am not afraid of catching the disease, nor of giving it away. My family knows and understands it. But, 80% of my friends ask me why I am not getting the vaccine.”
However, the former student at the Yvon-Bourges hotel school in Dinard (Ille-et-Vilaine), does not consider himself to be anti or pro-vaccine. ” I don’t care about protests and I reject both extremes. I just want to make my life and my job quiet. As this is not the case, I am going to put myself out of work ”.
During this period, the man from Saint-Malo intends to return to his Brittany before thinking of the future. “If the health pass continues, I’ll find something else,” he exclaims.
” I can not not stay at home and dwell on it. I’m going to be a jerk even if I don’t get vaccinated and find a job where I don’t need it. “
A departure that will put an end to an adventure started last October before the reconfinement.
“Working with my sisters, Jeanne, manager of Le Palais pub, and Julia, co-owner of the town hall pub and bar, I will miss it, but otherwise I do not have much trouble, because I don ‘ have not benefited much from my work with the Covid “.
