The Guanajuato International Film Festival (GIFF) continues with its mission of programming the best of national and international cinematography. With this, its twenty-fourth edition will take place from September 17 to 26 in digital and face-to-face format with a platform streaming where they will be exhibited 160 movies, between shorts and feature films.
This year, the festival will return in person to theaters and movie theaters in Lion -First time venue for the festival- of the September 18 to 20; on San Miguel de Allende of the 21 al 23, and in Irapuato from 24 to 26 of the same month.
As part of your Official Selection, GIFF presents 26 feature films along with 119 shorts from Mexico and other latitudes of the world, which will compete in the sections of: Feature Film Mexico, Feature Film International Fiction and Feature Film International Documentary.
The Official Selection of Feature Film Mexico is composed of:
- Night of fire, by Tatiana Huezo.
- The free days, by Ulises Pérez Mancilla.
- Olvido District, by Thom Díaz.
- Look at me, by Pavel Cantú.
- Guiexhuba, by Sabrina Muhate.
- The beautiful vanquished, by Guillermo Magariños.
- Malibu, by Víctor Velázquez.
- What’s Left on the Road, by Danilo do Carmo and Jakob Krese.
- Map of Latin American Dreams, by Martín Weber.
- National Holiday, by Augusto De Alba.
It also has tapes in the categories of Documentary Short Films, Fiction, Animation, Experimental, Mexico, Guanajuato and Virtual Reality. It should be noted that most of the films on display are world premieres or Latin American premiers.

Lecture series
GIFF presents 13 specialized conferences and panels, among which stand out an Online Conversation with the German actor Udo Kier, star of the inaugural film Swan Song and with renowned titles such as Suspiria, Blood for Dracula, among others.
In turn, it will have a Master Conference which brings together two enormous talents from the film industry and international television: Fernando Rovzar and Norberto Barba, who will share their experiences from executive production, general direction and the role of showrunner.
What else does it offer?
In the event you will be surrendered tribute to María Rojo and Beatriz Novaro, by the Association of Women in Film and Television. In addition, it was detailed that the project once again includes its “Project Glamor” section, a relevant showcase with the participation of more than 25 designers and fashion talents in Mexico.

There will also be an activity called “El Salón de la Crítica”, with a online workshop on film criticism. It was also highlighted that the college contests, in which students will have to record and edit a short film in 48 hours.
