Two minutes into overtime, however, substitute Damian Szymanski appeared and headed Robert Lewandowski’s gorgeous chip into goal. The equalizer ensured England’s first loss of points in qualifying.
– It’s tough to get it in the woodwork. I think we handled the match well. It is not easy to get to a tough away match in Poland, says Kane after the match.

The draw also means that Poland is only one point behind second-placed Albania in group i. England are superb group leaders with five points clearance.
– It has been a good qualifier for us so far. We are in a good position in the group with four games left, says Kane.
Suseren was the English captains’ 41st national team goal. That makes him number five on the list of players with the most national team goals for England. Only Jimmy Greaves (44), Gary Lineker (48), Bobby Charlton (49) and Wayne Rooney (53) have scored more in the English national team kit.
– It is probably one of the better goals I have scored for England. It was good to see it go in, but a pity it did not hold to three points, says Kane.
His national team manager, Gareth Southgate, says the English players are disappointed to have lost two points in overtime.
– This collection they have still done a very good job. The match today was a difficult task. After the European Championships, it would have been easy for us to lose our hunger. We have shown that this is not the case, says Southgate.
