Apple has just announced its next launch event, where new products will be unveiled. And this year they have sent out an invitation a little out of the ordinary.
The date for Apple’s new launch is September 14th. The time was, among other things announced via Twitter by Greg Joswiak, vice president of Apple’s marketing department, who for the occasion attached a short “augmented reality” video.
AR news?
The video shows a virtual, floating Apple logo placed in a real environment, and when you move “into” the logo, the date appears. If you sit on an iOS device yourself, you can get the full experience by clicking on the logo on Apple Event website.
The invention is tempting to interpret to mean that Apple is planning a form of “augmented reality” news, without this being in any way confirmed. The company is already investing heavily in technology, for example with the latest editions of the iPad Pro, which has a built-in lidar scanner for more advanced “augmented reality” capabilities.
As among others MacRumors has reported, there are also rumors that Apple is planning its own AR glasses for augmented reality experiences.
The most obvious thing is probably that Apple will unveil the iPhone 13, which started the rumor mill a while ago.
Probably no major design changes
Among the unconfirmed information pending on the next iPhone release, reproduced by Macrumors, among other things, it seems that we, like the iPhone 12, get four models, at least in the sizes 5.4, 6.1 and 6.7 inches.
No major design changes are expected, except that Apple has shrunk the size of the “lip” at the top of the screen by reducing the dimensions of the Face ID hardware. On the Pro models, the iPhone 13 screen is supposed to be equipped with a refresh rate of 120 Hz.
A new A15 system chip under the hood and a new 5G chip from Qualcomm are also expected.
Otherwise, it is very likely that Apple will announce the new generation Apple Watch, and rumors have it that the new editions of the smartwatches will offer the first proper design overhaul in a while. What this entails is uncertain, but among other things, narrower waistlines are a possibility.
We will probably also see a new generation of AirPods, and news about the company’s services and software is always included in the launch events. What Apple has up its sleeve, we will find out from 14 September.
