The Italian concern Ferrero uses a mass of hazelnuts for its products. As much as a quarter of all hazelnuts grown in the world end up in Ferrero products. The company mainly gets its stock from Turkey, the largest hazelnut producer worldwide, but now wants to switch to Italian cultivation. The plans came after criticism of the Turkish harvesting process, which allegedly involved children.
