SABINAL, Texas – One more school district has decided to close one of its campuses due to the spread of COVID-19.
The Sabinal Independent School District, which operates in the community of Sabinal, in Uvalde County, informed in a letter that the Sabinal Secondary Campus will be temporarily closed from September 7 to 10. Classes will resume on Monday, September 13.
“On September 6, 2021, Sabinal ISD received reports of more positive COVID-19 cases, leading to large numbers of staff being quarantined for precautionary reasons. The quarantine has created a staff shortage on the Secondary Campus, ”explained Steve Alvarado, campus principal, in the letter.
The primary school in Sabinal has not been affected so far, so it will remain open and operating on a regular basis.
Parents were asked to keep their children home if they are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 or if they feel ill to help curb the spread.
Parents were also asked to notify the school nurse if they know of anyone who is linked to Sabinal ISD and has tested positive for COVID-19. The phone number to call is 830-988-2436.
