Boeing discounted us a little, Ryanair announced the end of negotiations on the purchase of the 737 MAX10

Unconventionally, Ryanair announced the end of the negotiations in a press release in which it did not forget to dig into Boeing due to new Airbus orders.

It could have been the largest aircraft in Ryanair’s fleet so far, for the first time with a capacity of more than 200 seats. However, their purchase is still being postponed. Europe’s largest carrier has announced that it has concluded negotiations with Boeing for the purchase of tens to hundreds of new 737 MAX10 aircraft.

This is not a very common announcement in the aviation industry: airlines usually do not disclose that purchase negotiations have led nowhere. In the case of Ryanair, which in the past led Boeing to big discounts, this still offers the possibility that it is only part of another negotiating tactic.

The negotiations ended without an agreement on the price,Ryanair said in a press release. According to the carrier, however, the future growth of the company is not endangered, because it has ordered enough other aircraft, namely a total of 210 737-8200 machines. By taking over these aircraft, Ryanair wants to reach the size of 600 aircraft and 200 million passengers carried annually.

Negotiations have been going on for the last ten months. According to the carrier, it became clear last week that Boeing’s price offer did not correspond to Ryanair’s ideas, and both parties agreed to end the negotiations.

Boeing has a more optimistic view of aircraft prices than we do. We are disciplined and we do not want to buy aircraft expensive, “ Ryanair chief Michael O’Leary said. In a press release, however, he managed to dig into Boeing immediately, recalling the recent ones Delta contracts a Jet2.com, which ordered new aircraft from Airbus. In both cases, it is the A321neo, ie direct competition to the MAX10.

The Boeing 737 MAX10 is the largest version of the 737 MAX, with up to 230 passengers. Boeing has over 200 orders for this model, and is to start supplying it to customers from 2023.
