End clap for the Olympic and Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020. Sunday September 5, 2021, the closing ceremony of Paralympic Games ended a month of sporting events. And the French athletes do not have to be ashamed: the delegation returns with no less 54 medals in his luggage, including our and or, and finished fourteenth in the standings.
Two Paralympic medals
Present in the Japanese capital, athletes from or licensed in Seine-Saint-Denis have made the pride of the department. Two of them brought home a valuable para-athletics charm.
The first medal, in gold, was won by Charles-Antoine Kouakou during the 400 meters T20. The young athlete licensed at Sport toi bien 93 and gardener at Le Bourget had a superb race reaching the finish line in 47 seconds 63 hundredths.
The second medal, in silver this time, was delighted by Timothy Adolphe, licensed at Saint-Denis Emotion. The athlete and his guide came in second during the the 100 meters event. A great revenge for the athlete who had been disqualified at 400 meters for losing the rope that linked him to his guide when he finished at the head of the race.
Eleven medals in Seine-Saint-Denis
These two new medalists are added to the nine champions of the department. They join the judokate Madeleine Malonga, Olympic vice-champion in the under 78 kg category, and Margaux Pinot who won gold against Japan in the team final in judo.
In team sports, the harvest of medals has proven to be fruitful. To start with rugby sevens players, Olympic vice-champions. Three of them play at AC Bobigny rugby 93 and came back with a silver medal in their suitcases: Anne-Cécile Ciofani, holder and test scorer, she enriched her record after being vice-world champion in 2018, Nassira Kondé and Joanna Grisez, both reservists also left with medals.
At basket, the two French teams are adorned with medals, silver for men and bronze for women. Results that made the happiness of Diandra Tchatchouang who plays for club The Courneuve. Native de Villepinte, the 1m89 wing wore the number 93 for her first Olympics, a number that brought her luck.
For men, although playing at ASVEL in Villeurbanne, Moustapha Fall, the giant pivot of 2m18 is from Neuilly-sur-Marne and signed his first contract at 17 at Villemomble.
At handball, the French teams did even stronger with two Olympic titles. Kalidiatou Niakaté who discovered this sport at Aubervilliers brings gold home after being European and world champion with Les Bleues. On the fencing side, Anita Blaze won the team silver medal in foil against the formidable Russians.
