The Polish parliament supports the introduction of the state of emergency on the border with Belarus

Police watch to be strengthened on the Polish-Belarusian border

The reasons for the introduction of the state of emergency are the migration crisis and the holding of the Belarusian-Russian exercises West-2021.

The Polish Seim on Monday, September 6, by a majority vote supported the government’s decision to introduce a state of emergency in the regions on the border with Belarus, informed agency TASS.

247 MPs voted for the corresponding initiative, 168 opposed and 20 abstained.

As the newspaper notes, order of the president of the republic Andrzej Duda on the introduction of the state of emergency came into force on September 3, but if the parliament voted against, it would have been canceled.

Thus, a state of emergency will operate for 30 days on the section of the Polish-Belarusian border at a distance of three kilometers from it. It means the introduction of a ban on mass and entertainment events, increased police watch, document control. In addition, persons who do not live, work or study in these places will not be able to stay in the indicated territory.

The decision of the Polish authorities will affect 115 settlements in the Podlaskie Voivodeship and 68 in Lubelskie. The reasons for the introduction of the state of emergency are the crisis situation with migrants on the border with Belarus, as well as, as stressed by the Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration of Poland, Mariusz Kamiński, the holding of joint Belarusian-Russian strategic exercises West-2021.

We will remind, on August 31 the government of Poland sent a request to the president countries Andrzej Duda with a proposal to introduce a state of emergency in the regions bordering on Belarus.
