The former Jagiellonia footballer heard the court’s decision

The sentence includes a fine of three thousand zlotys and a one-year driving ban. It was made without a hearing – the prosecutor’s office submitted such a motion agreed with the accused, along with the indictment. The footballer himself was not present at the trial and the decision was not published.

It’s about an incident in March this year. There was information in the media about a driver who did not stop at the road control in Białystok.

Shortly thereafter, Jagiellonia Białystok posted on its website a statement regarding the termination of the contract with the player. The club took swift steps. “The contract with the 23-year-old midfielder was terminated due to the events involving the player last Sunday,” read the statement. Earlier, the club declared: “We want to emphasize that Jagiellonia Białystok condemns such behavior and considers it to be gross violations of the rules of discipline, for which there is no place in our club.”

The defendant was charged with a crime against safety in communication – the issue is a situation where the driver – despite the policeman’s order to stop the car – did not stop and drove away from the control point. For this, he is threatening from 3 months to 5 years in prison. Then his blood was taken for tests for the content of intoxicants in the body. Ultimately, they showed nothing.

The judge noted that the driver was young and had not been punished before, so the fine would be an adequate penalty. “In the opinion of the court, he would stop the accused from future such behavior, and he himself declared that it was stupid on his part and he would not behave like that anymore. In the opinion of the court, it is worth giving this young man a chance” – he said.

Interia Jesus Imaz from Jagiellonia Białystok spoke about the situation of the midfielder: – He wanted to concentrate on football, on the next chance he was given, isolate himself from problems. But he failed in the end. I hope what happened will open his eyes. Because he’s still young and if he really cares about football, there are things you really can’t do in your life.
