At least 182 people, including 13 US soldiers, were killed in the suicide bombings.
Meanwhile, Taliban forces are reported to have carried out a door-to-door manhunt of former members of the security forces of the ousted Afghan government.
Taliban forces are also reported to have shot dead a pregnant policewoman in front of her children and husband at her home in Ghor province. However, the Taliban denied involvement in the policewoman’s killing.
The two reports come after the head of the British Armed Forces, General Sir Nick Carter, said he was surprised by the speed with which the Taliban took power in Afghanistan.
“It was his speed that surprised us,” he was quoted as saying The Sun, Monday (6/9/2021).
He claims that Western countries can direct the Taliban. “They will need a little help to run the modern state effectively,” he said.
“If they behave (well), maybe they will get help.”
