On, intense, disheartening and invigorating. The market summer of Inter it closed between conflicting sensations, in a continuous ups and downs. The fans watched the departure of Conte, Hakimi and Lukaku. They feared that their dream of opening a winning cycle and bringing home the second star would fade too soon. Then, however, the exceptional work of Marotta and Ausilio, forced to work in an economic context that is certainly not easy, reversed the course, bringing top-level players such as Dzeko, Correa, Dumfries and Calhanoglu to Milan. The rest was done by Inzaghi, who entered the Nerazzurri environment on tiptoe but has already entered everyone’s heart. Taking home two wins out of two, giving the team a pleasant and appreciated game, and giving the Inter people new confidence and new life. FCInter1908.it took stock with Franco Vanni, a journalist for the Repubblica close to the events at Inter.

Good evening Franco. Inter may have ‘downsized’, but this start of the season seems to show that this squad can compete for the Scudetto.
–
Absolutely yes, and this even before Juventus sold CR7. Inter left the market perfectly equipped to win the Scudetto. This, of course, does not give a guarantee of winning it, but it does mean being among the favorites. I put Juventus in the lot, despite the start of the season, and Milan for the championship made last season. Then, all the others. Marotta and Ausilio, given the economic hardship, did a half miracle in building this team.

Do you agree with who defines this team as weaker than in 2020-21, but more complete?
–
The fact that it is weaker has to be proved. The strength of this team will be assessed on the result in the league, but also in the Champions League, given that the Nerazzurri have been out in the groups in recent years. From a technical point of view, it must be said that Hakimi is a superior player to both Darmian and Dumfries, but it must also be said that, beyond the nostalgia that now makes him appear as an absolute champion, in the past season has had a mixed performance, even if in any case the number of goals and assists at the end of the year were excellent; Lukaku is an amazing player, a great architect of the Scudetto. But it is also true that in Europe he has not had a comparable performance and that he has been replaced by a player like Dzeko, who is technically worth at least as much as Lukaku. It is among the strongest. The only limit is age. However, it must be remembered that Inter also took Correa, spending little overall. The real theme is that the attack will soon be redesigned, given Dzeko’s age. Not to mention the arrival of Calahnoglu, bought after Eriksen’s problems on a free transfer. Marotta took a good player and, as often happened in his career, he weakened a direct opponent.

In this regard, the names of Insigne and Belotti have long been mentioned for the Inter attack.
–
Replacing Dzeko with Insigne would make little sense, given the different characteristics. In my opinion, for the future Inter would need a first striker like Dzeko: strong in the head, capable of playing with two feet of the ball on the ground, with his teammates and back to goal. Insigne is a fantastic player, but completely different.

What vote do you give, considering the context, to the Inter market?
–
We must distinguish between a property, which can be given a 6 because it has won and because it has done excellent things in recent years, and Marotta and Ausilio, who can easily be given an abundant 8. On average we are on 7.5. I don’t fully understand the Inter fans who lash out at Suning. It is true that Hakimi and Lukaku left, but it is also true that these players bought them themselves. All this mounting adversity towards property is only partially justifiable. Another big merit that Suning had was that of having quickly chosen a manager like Beppe Marotta when he left Juventus. Marotta has had an impressive number of victories in recent years. There is a bitter taste in the mouth if you think about the market that Inter would have had if Marotta had been able to invest all the money or almost obtained from the sales of Hakimi, Lukaku and all the others, which reduced the impact on the company’s balance sheet. This frees up space for a few small grafts.
