The Dominican Republic continues to experience favorable indicators of the COVID-19 pandemic, and to date it has two provinces with positivity less than one.
These are the border provinces Elías Piña and Independencia that yesterday Sunday had 0.44 and 0.78 in positivity, respectively.
Both demarcations did not register new cases yesterday, when the Ministry of Public Health reported 285 new positives nationwide, out of a total of 5,744 processed samples, of which 3,765,226 were for the first time. The general positivity of the day was 7.58%, while the accumulated to four weeks 5.62, with a downward trend. There was a new death.
Elías Piña, who has accumulated a total of 523 cases throughout the pandemic to date, has 47.50% of his target population with the two doses of the coronavirus vaccine, according to the latest Health update, on May 30 August.
Since last August 20, when the positivity went from 1.34 to 0.97, that province has maintained a decrease, with only five new cases.
In Independencia, which on Saturday had the positivity at 1.33, it has a cumulative of 1,359 cases, with only three new ones in the last 15 days. That province already has 58.8% of its population with the complete vaccination scheme.
At a general level, the National Vaccination Plan against COVID-19 reaches 4,694,576 people with two doses, 5,848,770 with the first and 716,746 with the third, for 11,260,092 doses applied since the day began last February.
The country has received 21.8 million doses of vaccines, of the around 30 million contracted. Last week, the Dominican Government reported that it will donate some 505,000 doses.
