An average of 700 hectares of coffee is renewed there annually, therefore, the Tolima governorate, in the company of Departmental Committee of Coffee Growers and the Mayor of Ortega, came to the Alto del Cielo village to socialize and motivate them to reactivate the economy through the coffee renovation.
During the day, hundreds of coffee growers signed up to receive a technical visit from the committee’s extension agents, who will verify the renovation and planting of the coffee plantations. Farmers who do not have a coffee card will also have the accompaniment to be registered in SICA 2021.
Alexander Ducuara, coffee grower and President JAC of Alto del Cielo, stated: “The price of inputs has increased and this is a tremendous help, because we are going to carry out the renovation with the assurance that we have the start of inputs in the matter of fertilization.”
It should be remembered that for new plantings they will receive $ 250 per tree, represented in fertilizers endorsed by Cenicafé, and a minimum density of 5,500 plants per hectare is recommended, which must be varieties resistant to rust suggested by the National Federation of Coffee Growers; likewise, for the renewal by planting and zoca, which must be a minimum of 2,500 plants per hectare, $ 140 per tree will be delivered, also represented in fertilizers.
