The organization expected 50,000 participants. It is not clear how many there are now, but according to the municipality there are too many. “It is too busy at the demonstration in the center. Do not join anymore. Do not come here,” the municipality tweeted.
The demonstrators will start walking at 12 noon. They then walk towards Leidseplein. A large number of different protest groups participate in the demonstration. Thierry Baudet, leader of the Forum for Democracy in the House of Representatives, is also present. He has called on his followers several times over the past week to come.
Among other things, there are demonstrations against the idea of to enter corona proofs for catering, museums and sports competitions. The first part of the march, which starts on Dam Square, must be in absolute silence until Leidseplein. Then the sound can be turned on. The demonstration ends at 3 p.m.
Due to the structure of the Concertgebouw Orchestra part of the Dam is fenced off with black fences. According to organizer Michel Reijinga, that is not an obstacle. “I am aware of it and so are our supporters. We will stand on the monument side and can fan out to Central Station and the Munt.”
According to the organizer, the municipality had no objection to the demonstration. This was also the case during previous protest marches.
