This will be a special event at the festival “Riga Jurmala”, because the world-famous Latvian conductor Andris Nelsons leads the Bayreuth Festival Orchestra to Riga, and this is the first time the composer’s cherished festival orchestra will perform in Riga, the city where Wagner spent two turbulent years of his life. .

Every year, the orchestra of the Bayreuth Festival brings together the most outstanding musicians of the best orchestras in Germany and abroad, who play together both at the festival and on concert tours, visiting Riga this year as well.

Andris Nelsons, to whose heart Wagner’s music is particularly close, has prepared a nuanced opera music program. The concert will feature symphonic episodes and chants from the operas “Loengrin”, “Parsifal” and the tetralogy “Niebelung’s Ring” for the parts “Valkyrie” and “God’s Twilight”. Together with the orchestra and maestro Nelson, soprano Kristīne Gerke, who has performed in the world’s leading opera houses, and tenor Klaus Florian Fogt, who is recognized as one of the most outstanding singers in the role of Loengrin, will perform on stage.

The television broadcast of the concert will be produced by the editorial office of LTV Kultūras broadcasts, it will be directed by journalist Eva Johansone, directed by Agita Cāne-Ķīle.
