US President Joe Biden wants to release classified documents about the September 11, 2001 attacks in the United States. The documents come from the FBI investigation.
Biden has not said exactly what will be published. According to American media, it may be documents about Saudi Arabia’s role in the attacks. Relatives of victims of the attacks say they suspect that Saudi Arabia has provided aid to the terrorist group Al Qaeda, which carried out the attacks, and that the FBI has evidence about this.
Promise
The president has instructed the Ministry of Justice and other government organizations, among others, to see which documents can be released. If the disclosure is initiated, the documents will be released over the next six months.
Biden says publishing these documents is part of his election promise to provide transparency about the attacks. He promises that with the publications he will take into account the families of victims of the attacks. Nearly 3,000 people were killed in the attacks, including the WTC in New York.
