Chalco, Mex.- Dozens of homes were flooded in the Culturas de México colony, located in the municipality of Chalco by rain which was registered during the early hours of this Thursday.
“It started to rain around one, two in the morning and now we are very flooded, the government is just beginning to arrive with some carts to help the people, we practically lost everything, the water got into the kitchen, living room, dining room, the water rose up to 40 centimeters, but in some places up to a meter, we can’t go out, I’m just going to go out and buy something to eat, ”said Abraham García, a resident of the neighborhood.
“Until now the water has been descending very little, but progress is slow. In my house it is flooded, there is a lot of water, which is the kitchen, the rooms got the water, because we have to wait for the water to go down. The beds, the chairs, the refrigerator got wet, ”said Jesús Flores, another of the affected residents.

According to the neighbors, the rain lasted more than two hours, but the hydraulic infrastructure from that area of the municipality is obsolete for several years, so the water accumulated on the public highway and entered the houses.
The roads most affected They are Solidaridad, between Chalchiutlicue, March 2, Alfredo del Mazo, Juan Fernández Albarran, Benito Juárez and Tulipanes streets.
Elements of the Secretariat of Security of the State of Mexico attended the place with vehicles and boats to help people get out of their home.
Personnel from the Tláloc group of the government of the State of Mexico also arrived in the affected area with machinery to perform tasks of unzip.
Municipal government workers from the local water agency, Civil Protection and Firefighters, as well as from other areas arrived to assist the affected population.
The Morenoist mayor Miguel Gutiérrez recognized several weeks ago, when the residents of that community were flooded, that the construction of a new collector because the one that currently works no longer has the ability to dislodge the water that accumulates in the rainy season.
The Water Commission of the State of Mexico estimates that the water level will drop during the night, if it does not rain in the area later.
The municipal government will make a census to specify the number of homes that were flooded.
