“It was very, very, very intense” says a Quebecer who lives in New York

While New York is hit by torrential rains resulting from the passage of storm Ida, a Quebecer on the spot recounts the situation there.

The sudden torrential rains that fell on the big apple trapped a Quebecer, like many others, by the floods that followed.

“I finished the job around 11 am, and on my way back to my residence I usually take the FDR Drive, which was completely inaccessible due to the flooding. There was boiling and smoke coming out of the sewers, ”said Alex Cajuste.

“The umbrellas weren’t enough, because it was very windy. There are cars that have had their windshields and windows smashed by fallen branches, ”he continued.

In the aftermath of the showers, the sun came back, but public transport is still largely hampered.

“There are a lot of trains that no longer work, for people who want to move, it’s much more complicated,” he concluded.
