In the states of New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania in the northeast of the USA, according to media reports, more than 20 people were killed when cellars and cars overflowed and streets turned into raging rivers. In the state of New Jersey alone, “Ida” has killed more than 20 people. “I regret to report that so far at least 23 people from New Jersey have been killed by the storm,” wrote Governor Phil Murphy on Thursday (local time) on Twitter. Most of these fatalities were trapped in their vehicles by the floods.
