Third rail strike in summer: trains in Lower Franconia have failed

Rail traffic in Lower Franconia is also affected by the strike of the Lockführer trade union GDL: In Würzburg, 24 of the 37 train connections are down early in the morning, between five and eight o’clock. Among other things, local transport to Frankfurt am Main, Nuremberg, Kitzingen, Bamberg and Gemünden is affected. The ICE connections to Munich, Hamburg and Essen are also canceled.

The lock leaders’ readiness to fight continues

Bernd Hartmann, the chairman of the GDL local group in Würzburg, was satisfied with the course of the ongoing collective bargaining negotiations at the beginning of the 3rd railway strike and called the situation “very good” from his point of view. As he announced to Bayerischer Rundfunk, 37 GDL members from his area took part in the strike early in the morning. According to Hartmann, the emergency timetable will be adhered to. Hartmann described the mood among the union members as good and the willingness to fight unbroken. He does not expect the strike to be shortened or canceled.
