Less than a year after its launch, there is a new console model in the world PlayStation 5 without Blu-ray drive (digital edition). Sales began at least in Japan and Australia.
PS5 marked CFI-1100B 01 it not only has a new screw for easier placement of the console (you don’t need a screwdriver for it), but also significantly smaller heatsink. As a result, the weight of the PS5 has been reduced by 300 grams and it probably works a bit quieter.

The result is that the fan blows warmer air by about three to five degrees Celsius than the standard PlayStation 5 Digital Edition digital model. This does not mean that the console has to be warmer. Warm air from the processor and graphics chip can be better vented out of the console thanks to the new heat sink.
YouTuber Austin Evans, who got to the new PS5 model, thinks that the new solution is worse overall. But some point to the opposite as our previous paragraph. However, Sony apparently had to remove a large part of the radiator. With fewer ribs and smaller heat pipes, it should reduce the efficiency of heat dissipation from the console. At least that’s how it would work on a computer. If you remove the large processor heat sink in favor of the smaller one, the exhaust coming out of the system will be warmer because the overall system temperatures are higher because the smaller heat sink will not handle it as well.
Evans also noticed another connection of the W-LAN module.
