According to the Liverpool club, the reason for the 24-year-old’s absence is a thigh injury he suffered in Saturday’s league match with Brighton & Hove Albion (2-0). The footballer will remain under the care of Everton’s medical staff.
Calvert-Lewin was in the England squad for this year’s European Championship, as a substitute appeared on the pitch in two matches of the continent’s runners-up. In the previous season, he scored 16 goals in the Premier League, and in the current competition he made it to the net in each of the three rounds so far.
For the national team, he scored four goals in 11 appearances.
England, leading in the group I qualification table of the 2022 World Cup with a total of nine points, on September 2, 5 and 8 will face Hungary in Budapest, Andorra in London and the Polish team at PGE Narodowy.
