Polish troops are building a barbed wire fence to prevent illegal entry of refugees into the country.
The Polish military began to install barbed wire at the section of the Polish-Belarusian border in Zubrzyce Wielka to prevent the entry of migrants into the country. On Saturday, August 28, reports Ruptly.
The future fence will be built with a height of 2.5 meters and a length of 180 km, which is almost half the total length of the forest border between the two states.
Work on the construction of the wall began yesterday, Friday, August 27, near the border town of Krynka.
Polish border guards said they repulsed 3,059 illegal border crossings in August alone.
“Over the past 24 hours, they tried to cross the border from Belarus 55 times,” the border guards said.
It is known that due to the situation with migrants, Poland has doubled its military contingent on the eastern border to two thousand soldiers to assist the border service.
Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki noted that Warsaw continues to adhere to a tough position on this issue and intends to prevent illegal border crossing with Belarus. He also accused Minsk of fueling the migration crisis.
