Dacia Sandero is the best-selling car in Europe in July / Overtook Volkswagen Golf

Dacia Sandero became the best-selling vehicle on the European car market in July, announces the consulting and market research company JATO Dynamics, quoted by Online Engines. The Dacia model has surpassed the authoritarian leader of the entire European sales ranking in Europe, Volkswagen Golf.

Dacia Sandero is produced in Renault Morocco factories, and the Stepway variant in Mioveni, in Romania. In total, 20,446 copies were sold in July, 6% more than in the same month last year.

Dacia Duster is in the Top 10

The model has overtaken Volkswagen Golf, which has been in first place in the sales rankings for years. The German vehicle was purchased by 19,425 Europeans, 37% less than in the corresponding month of the previous year. On the third position in the ranking is Toyota Yaris, a model registered in 18,858 copies.

In third place, in July, in the top sales is Volkswagen Polo (17,343 units), followed by Volkswagen T-Roc (16,496 units), Hyundai Tucson (14,883 units), Volkswagen T-Cross (14,170 units), Dacia Duster ( 13,329 units), Ford Puma (13,283 units) and Peugeot 2008 (13,134 units).

Diesel cars account for 22% of August sales

Even though electric and hybrid vehicles continue to gain market share in Europe, JATO Dynamics finds that global sales are still not enough to offset large declines in diesel cars. In the last month, diesel cars accounted for only 22% of all new car sales in the European Union, compared to 32% in July 2019. In total, 207,000 fewer diesel vehicles were sold, while only 125,000 electrified models.
