Angoulême Festival: Mélanie Thierry radiant against Emma Mackey and Romain Duris

The seventh art once again in the spotlight. More than a month after the effervescence created by the Cannes Film Festival and a few days before the Venice Film Festival, the big names in French cinema are meeting for the 14th Angoulême Francophone Film Festival. Chaired by actress and director Nicole Garcia, with Reda Kateb, Oxmo Puccino, Noémie Schmidt and Leïla Kaddour at her side, this new edition is the opportunity to see a parterre of personalities come to present their respective films. Among them, the actors Karin Viard, Vincent Macaigne and Laurent Lafitte for “The origin of the world”. Jacques Audiard and his actresses Jehnny Beth and Lucie Zhang for “Les Olympiades”, presented in competition at Cannes. But also Mélanie Thierry, the headliner of the feature film “The real family”, by Fabien Gorgeart. After dazzling the Croisette last July – she was president of the Camera d’Or – the 39-year-old actress reappeared radiant in front of the photographers, alongside her playing partner Félix Moati.

He was chosen to open the Angoulême Festival this year. Tuesday, August 24, the film “Eiffel” by Martin Bourboulon was screened for the first time at the end of the opening ceremony. The opportunity to immerse yourself in the history of the conception of the famous Iron Lady but also to discover the duo formed by Romain Duris and Emma Mackey on screen. Revealed thanks to the Netflix series “Sex Education”, the Franco-British actress embodies Adrienne Bourgès, the youthful love of Gustave Eiffel, played by the star of “L’Auberge Espagnol” and “L’Arnacœur”.
