How to promote the local products of producers and farmers in Côte-d’Or? There is the “PAT”, or “territorial food project” which aims to put producers and farmers in touch with local authorities and project leaders.
In Côte-d’Or, there are six project leaders including Dijon Métropole or even more recently the Pays Beaunois.
“A relief”
Among the project leaders, there are the “Eleveurs de la Côte Verte”, a project leader which aims to develop a helping cattle breeders. Most of them collaborate with another project leader: Dijon Métropole, to supply the canteens. And for Clément Boccard, breeder of Charolais in Montigny-Montfort, it is a relief.
“Before that, we never really knew where our products were going. Now we know, and it’s very gratifying and rewarding to know that our meat ends up on the plates of local schoolchildren.“he confides.
For Jean-Philippe Benoist, breeder of Charolais also, the territories are also valued. “This highlights territories that we never talk about. For example Auxois, which is a rich land and which sees a lot of cattle passing by. And it’s very satisfying“he adds.
Great economic benefits
The financial aspect is not negligible either. “The market is generally very stable, but direct sales and especially wholesale brings us 10 to 15% more turnover“explains Clément Boccard, who evokes a real breath of fresh air.
But it also evokes a bigger workload. “As we are now dealing with several buyers, this causes us to sell several parts of the animal to several customers. But it’s worth it, we know where our products go“he specifies.
Delphine Gentil de Almeida is a market gardener. She has just set up her production, “Cissey Chouette”, in Mercueil. She, for her part, does not necessarily want to increase the number of customers yet. “Either way, we couldn’t“she explains.”Our production is still small. But why not, when we grow up, try to multiply the buyers, and the PAT is there for that. The short circuit and direct sales, there is only that to enhance the prices and wages of farmers and producers“she concludes.
But it does not rule out expanding its clientele, and why not, supplying schools and nursing homes in the area.
