Prayers and religious songs punctuated the vigil, and after a speech from the tavana, her friends also recounted how they had known Maïcka, what she had brought them, and how much they already missed her. Finally Tuesday morning, the artist was accompanied to her last home in the family cemetery at PK12 in Mahina. Only family and a few longtime friends were able to attend the moving ceremony and again bathed in music. In the end, all that was missing was Maïcka’s inimitable voice.
