LaNyalla: Booster vaccine is prioritized for health workers

Jakarta (ANTARA) – The chairman of the DPD RI AA LaNyalla Mahmud Mattalitti emphasized that the third dose of COVID-19 vaccine (booster) is currently being prioritized for health workers (nakes).

This was conveyed by LaNyalla to avoid misuse of vaccine booster injections for non-nakes.

“There are still many people who have not been vaccinated because vaccine coverage has not yet reached them due to various obstacles, including vaccine limitations,” LaNyalla said in a press release received in Jakarta, Thursday.

Therefore, the senator from East Java asked parties outside of non-health workers not to receive booster injections. According to him, health workers need a booster because they are parties who have a high risk of transmitting the Corona virus.

“In addition to violating the provisions, giving boosters to non-health workers hurts people’s feelings, especially for those who have not received the vaccine,” he said.

Provisions regarding the provision of a COVID-19 vaccine booster are regulated in the Circular Letter of the Ministry of Health Number HK.02.01/1919/2021. The Circular stipulates that the third dose of vaccination is only given to health workers and health supporters, while the government currently regulates the provision of boosters using the Moderna brand vaccine.

“For now, there is no provision for boosters to be given to anyone other than health workers, which is still ongoing. So giving the third dose of vaccine outside health workers cannot take the people’s share,” said LaNyalla.

The government was also asked to carry out stricter supervision regarding this issue. LaNyalla also expects the awareness of all parties to prioritize the interests of the people.

“The government must be able to bring order if there is a booster injection for parties other than health workers. Officials must also be role models for the community, by waiting their turn if they want to get a booster, “said the former chairman of PSSI.

LaNyalla reminded local governments and other vaccination providers about the accuracy of vaccination targets. Moreover, there is already an integrity pact on this matter.

“We hear that many regions complain about the lack of vaccine stocks. So the local government as the implementer of vaccination must be really wise in determining vaccination targets,” said LaNyalla.

Moderna vaccines can be given to the public or non-nakes. However, Moderna is given to the public specifically for those who have never received the first dose and the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

He said the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) also provided criteria for recipients of the Moderna vaccine, considering that the stock was still limited. Moderna vaccines for the public are currently prioritized for pregnant women, comorbid patients, and people who have a history of allergies and cannot use the AstraZeneca or Sinovac vaccines.

LaNyalla said the distribution of the Moderna vaccine must be optimized according to regulations. “Make sure this type of vaccine is received by the right target, including the Pfizer vaccine which just entered Indonesia a few days ago,” he said.

The Ministry of Health and the National Police were also asked to monitor health facilities that offer services for providing COVID-19 vaccine boosters for a fee. This was conveyed by LaNyalla following the circulation of a promotional flyer from a health service facility that offered booster vaccine injections for Rp. 500 thousand to Rp. 700 thousand.

“It must be reminded again, currently giving vaccines is a government program that is free or free of charge,” said the Alumnus of Universitas Brawijaya.
