Another 703 people in Lithuania are infected with the coronavirus

Another 703 people were confirmed infected with the new coronavir in Lithuania last day, but the disease caused by the virus Covid-19 has claimed the lives of seven people, the Statistics Department announced on Thursday.

14,226 tests were performed last day, thus the proportion of positive tests was 4.9%.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, a total of 296,096 people have been diagnosed with the new coronavirus in the country.

The Covid-19 virus disease has claimed 4,513 lives in Lithuania.

The hospitals are currently treating 477 Covid-19 patients, 66 of whom are in resuscitation. 35 patients require artificial ventilation of the lungs, while 389 patients are treated with oxygen masks.

According to the Department of Statistics, the 14-day cumulative number of infections per 100,000 population in Lithuania on 26 August increased to 282.5.

A total of 1,630,974 people have been vaccinated against Covid-19 in Lithuania, including 1,466,055 people who have been vaccinated.
