The Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare of Japan has announced that foreign substances have been found in a number of doses of Moderna vaccine. Information was received from various vaccination centers.

Pharmaceutical company Takeda Pharmaceutical, which sells and distributes Moderna in Japan, said in this regard that patients have so far decided not to inject 1.63 million doses of the vaccine as a precautionary measure.
At the same time, the company noted that the information on the detection of foreign materials has yet to be studied.
Last year, the Japanese authorities signed agreements with the British-Swedish company AstraZeneca, the American firm Moderna and the American-German consortium of Pfizer and BioNTech companies for the supply of vaccines against the coronavirus. All three drugs are approved for use by the Japanese Ministry of Health.
Vaccinations in Japan began in mid-February. Medical workers were the first to vaccinate.
