Czech tennis player Kateřina Siniaková.
The silver Olympic medalist from Tokyo Vondroušová won the first set smoothly 6: 1, in the following then the exhausted Belgian woman gave up the match played in the heat during the second game. She spent less than an hour on the court, and the Belgians were not helped by the medical treatment after the first set.
For the semifinals, Vondroušová will face the winner of the duel between the Frenchwoman Alizé Cornetová and the Italian Jasmine Paoliniová. This year’s maximum on the WTA circuit is the January semifinals at the Yarra Valley Classic, and at the Australian Open and Roland Garros advanced to the eighth finals.
Martincová managed to advance much more than Vondroušová, she celebrated the victory over the doubling specialist Sie Shu-wej only after two hours and a quarter. The Czech Republic lost the first set, then improved in service and leveled. In the turbulent third set, Martincová led 4: 0 and 30: 0, but then chose a weaker moment.
In the seventh game, she lost to 0: 40, but in the end she managed another break and served the match herself. She made it to the quarterfinals, in which the better of the match between Switzerland’s Victoria Golubicova and Sweden’s Rebecca Peterson, awaited her for the fourth time this year, of which she reached the final in Prague.
Siniak didn’t linger long
