The company’s profit has decreased by 7% – from 150,104 euros in 2014 to 128,286 euros last year.
According to the management report, the activity profile is still herring and sprat fishing in the Gulf of Riga. Last year, the limit for herring was 1287 tons, but for sprat – 39 tons. Fish are also purchased, frozen and sold to processing companies in Riga and Salacgriva, as well as exported to European Union (EU) and Ukraine.
Last year, most of the turnover – 1.38 million euros – was accounted for by fish sales in the EU. 479,214 euros were obtained from sales on the domestic market, and 130,072 euros from exports to Ukraine.
The report also says that the domestic market decreased last year, but sales of fish in Lithuania and Estonia have increased, as well as exports to Ukraine have increased, and a new market has been established in Denmark. Last year, 35% more fish was bought than in the previous year. Despite increased costs for electricity and utilities, the cost of purchasing fuel for fishing vessels has decreased, and one of the company’s two vessels has been leased to another.
It is planned that this year the company will expand the operation of the fish freezer in the port of Skulte, as well as work on the possibilities to expand the export of frozen fish to Denmark.
‘Varita’ was registered in 1995 in Saulkrasti municipality, its share capital – 3130 euros, number of employees last year – 29 employees.
The owners of the company with 40% share are Daila Lapiņa and Ilmārs Lielmanis, but 20% share belongs to Agrim Lapiņš.
