For Bremen, the duel is a “game of the century”, as sporting director Ralf Voigt told the German press agency on Monday. “We’re all really looking forward to it.” Because there were two positive corona cases in Bremen, the game had to be postponed at the beginning of August. More than half of the team had to go into quarantine by order of the health department, which ended only ten days ago.
In the meantime, however, everyone is fit again and looking forward to the comparison with the big Bavarians. The joy of the dreamless was simply extended by the relocation, but the postponement also meant a lot of extra work for those responsible. “We had to rewrite tickets and issue new ones, which was a real challenge for our employees,” said Voigt. But the view of the star ensemble from the Isar allowed all of the tasks to be mastered without complaint.

The people of Bremen are expecting around 10,000 spectators, who move to the Weser Stadium especially for the special encounter. “They should be. You don’t get to see Bayern that often anymore,” said Voigt, who used to be a professional in Bielefeld and Düsseldorf, among others, with a view to the relegation of their big neighbor Werder.
Of course, they don’t really believe in a surprise at the fifth division. “The result is secondary. What matters is how we perform,” said Voigt. “We want to show that there is also a second team on the field. We don’t want to be fooled.”
Benjamin Eta now has the hardest task. The Bremen coach has to select those players who are allowed to play against Bayern and also disappoint some players in not being able to take part in the “game for eternity”. Eta doesn’t really count itself out against Bayern either. But he also wants to annoy the Munich at least a little. “And if Julian Nagelsmann jumps up at some point in the second half because he is dissatisfied, because the game is exciting, then we have already achieved a great deal,” said the Bremen coach at Bremen Eins.
