Hungary has “benefited a lot” from its good relations with Russia lately, underlined Mr. Szijjarto during a press conference organized on Tuesday with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov.
Hungary would not have been able to lead “Europe’s most successful vaccination campaign” without Russian vaccine Sputnik V, Hungarian foreign minister said, referring to joint COVID-19 vaccination efforts .

In addition to vaccines acquired through the European Union, Hungary has stepped up its COVID-19 vaccination campaign with the Russian vaccine Sputnik V and the Chinese vaccine Sinopharm. Szijjarto also announced that talks on the production of the Sputnik V vaccine in the country are currently “at an advanced stage”.
“Cooperation on vaccines, their transport and licensing all testify to a friendly, trusting and also strategic relationship between our two countries,” Lavrov said.
Regarding the current situation in Afghanistan, Szijjarto referred to an “obvious and serious migratory threat”, adding that Hungary was ready to stop migrants at its borders.
In this regard, Mr. Lavrov affirmed that his country was ready, along with China, the United States and Pakistan, to participate in the resolution of the current crisis in Afghanistan. End
