As game manager Jörg Neumann explained, Microsoft Flight Simulator will introduce a variant of the so-called Stihl National Championship Air Races. Here, up to eight players can compete against each other in aircraft that can reach speeds of up to 800 kilometers per hour.
Microsoft has not yet set an exact release date for these races, which will be part of what the publisher calls “the first major expansion” for Microsoft Flight Simulator. However, the goal is to launch the expansion in the autumn, but before that time other updates are due.
On September 7, Asobo rolls out World Update VI. This time it is the European landscape that gets a little extra love – more specifically Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Here, players get to explore over 100 known and unknown landmarks, try out new landing challenges and soar over landscapes that have been redecorated for the occasion.

The same day – ie September 7 – also comes the first so-called Local Legend update for Microsoft Flight Simulator. These will highlight older aircraft that are popular in some places, but otherwise unknown worldwide. First out is Junkers JU-52, which is supposedly really popular in Germany.
Finally, Asobo also promised to address the future of aviation. This happens in November, with the introduction of a fancy helicopter taxi thing called VoloCity.
Microsoft also showed car driving at the Gamescom show.
