The Friends of Middenduin Foundation has filed summary proceedings against the air show with fighter jets and helicopters during the Formula 1 weekend in Zandvoort, reports NH News. The case will be heard at the court in Haarlem next Wednesday.

According to the foundation, the air show, a so-called flypastonly cause unnecessary noise pollution. In this regard, particular reference is made to the Zuid-Kennemerland National Park, which is located right next to the circuit: a protected Natura 2000 area, part of which is known as a quiet area. Because the flypast would not be necessary for Formula 1, the foundation wants it to be banned. The show is scheduled for Sunday, September 5 at 2:00 PM.

Contrary to IPCC report

A permit for the show has been issued by Defense: “It is absurd that the Defense is wasting fuel for fun and the climate is burdened with CO2 emissions,” Marc Janssen of the Duinbehoud foundation is quoted as saying. “It is downright ridiculous and at odds with the Cabinet’s initial response to the IPCC report.” There are also lawsuits surrounding the Dutch Grand Prix against the event permit for Formula 1, against the license for transporting VIPs by helicopter and against the fireworks show.
