Maberzell just missed a surprise in Saarbrücken

Saarbrücken (ke) – At the start of the season in the table tennis Bundesliga, the TTC RhönSprudel Maberzell only had to admit defeat. At last year’s championship runner-up 1. FC Saarbrücken, he lost 3-2. After three singles, Maberzell led 2: 1, but could not close the sack in either the fourth singles or the following doubles.

“It was a very dramatic, high-class game,” said a delighted Stefan Frauenholz. Maberzell’s chairman saw a brilliant debut of the French newcomer Alexandre Cassin, as did 170 spectators in the Joachim Deckarm-Halle. He beat the Czech Tomas Polanksy 3-2 after five sets. Cassin looked strong and nervous when he first appeared in the Maberzeller jersey. In the first set he was 3: 7 behind – and won 11: 7. He also won the second round before he suffered a slack. To be fully back in the decision set. He moved up and away – and won 11: 6. And his team led 2-1.
The guest team now had the surprise in mind. But Maberzell gave up the match. At first, Quadri Aruna was defeated by ex-Maberzeller Patrick Franziska with 0: 3. Frauenholz struggled a little with that. “Both Ruwen Filus in the opening singles
and Aruna later awarded a set point against Franziska in the first set. If they could only have used one of them, the match might turn out differently. ”Finally, the double Cassin / fan Bo Meng went empty-handed against the well-rehearsed double Jorgic / Polansky. Initially, the Maberzeller harmonized perfectly, but then produced too many errors. “We will still be working on the doubles,” said Frauenholz.
