On Monday, he was found dead in his own home in Milton, Massachusetts. The cause of death is currently unknown, but it is not a suspicious death.
– The Boston Bruins are devastated by the news that former Bruins player Jimmy Hayes has died. Our thoughts are with his wife Kristen, his two sons Beau and Mac, and the entire Hayes family in this tough time, the club writes on Twitter.
On Sunday, Hayes and his family celebrated the second birthday of their son Beau. His youngest son Mac was born on May 5.
– I’ve been in shock all day. We’re devastated to have lost Jimmy. I can not stress enough how amazing he was. He was the nicest young man I worked with, says his agent Bob Murray Boston Globe.
He is also the agent of his brother Kevin Hayes, who plays for the Philadelphia Flyer.
The American played for a number of years in the NHL – for the Chicago Blackhawks, Florida Panthers, Boston Bruins and most recently for the New Jersey Devils in 2017/18. His last club was the Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins in the AHL. It was the farmer team of the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Hayes won 72 games and scored 30 goals (15 goals, 15 assists) in the 2018/19 season for the team.
The right winger scored a total of 109 points (54 goals, 55 assists) in 334 NHL games, spread over seven seasons.
