II Liga: Carlos Pinto leaves Vilafranquense

Carlos Pinto announced the departure of the technical command of Vilafranquense, at a press conference after the 1-1 draw with Sporting da Covilhã, in the third round of the II Liga.

“On Saturday I presented my decision. I told the president that I wanted to play this game so as not to harm the club and that’s what happened. I’m very proud of this technical team and these players,” said the 48-year-old coach, adding that he could take a break.

“It’s always good to stop,” he said, adding that “like any unemployed coach,” he also waits for the phone to ring.

Carlos Pinto took charge of the Ribatejo team in March of this year, to replace João Tralhão, but he was unable to avoid the team’s relegation, which would later be invited to compete in the II League again.

This season, the coach saw Vilafranquense fall from the League Cup against Arouca (0-3) and lose the first two games of the II League against Penafiel (1-0) and Nacional (4-0), having drawn this Monday with Covilhã.
