Since the afternoon of Sunday, August 22, residents of Jinotepe, head of the Carazo department, lined up outside the Santiago Jinotepe Regional School Hospital to ensure they received the first anticovid dose that the Ministry of Health (Minsa) is applying this Monday in that place, according to citizen reports through social networks.
The reports showed that before nightfall there was already a long line of citizens who arrived with their seats, umbrellas, sweaters and food to spend the night outside the only vaccination post in that municipality, located south of Managua.

It is not the first time that Nicaraguans have to get up early to ensure their quota in vaccination, because the Minsa allocates few doses for each city, although there is a strong demand, according to citizen reports.

The current vaccination day is aimed at people over 45 years of age, whether or not they have chronic diseases. For this Monday, the calendar is directed to Managua, Jinotepe and Diriamba, as announced by the designated vice president of Nicaragua, Rosario Murillo. It is not yet reported if the day in these municipalities will continue this Tuesday.
Slow vaccination rate
The Nicaraguan independent union has stated that the rate of vaccination days is slow and that the Minsa has the capacity to increase the application of doses per day and by municipality or city. In addition to expanding coverage nationwide.
A doctor from the private sector, who requested anonymity, assured that the Minsa can apply more than 16 thousand doses per day, including Sunday, however the highest number of doses that the Minsa destined for a vaccination post is between a thousand and 1,500 doses, according to what is stated —on some occasions— in the official calendar.
