Gathered at the Evangelical Word of Life Center, the faithful of fallen pastor Paul Mukendi claimed to want to shed light on the disappearance of man. But their demonstration of support for the fugitive on the run failed to learn more about the reasons why he has not been seen since last Friday.

Found guilty of nine counts including sexual assault on a minor victim, the 44-year-old man took to the skies when he was due to start serving his eight-year prison sentence.

He appealed his case, but the sentence was finally upheld on August 16.

So Mukendi was due to surrender to jail authorities on Friday, but instead took the escape powder.

“Additional criminal charges will be added, such as an escape, and what you need to know is: yes, if it is found, there will be a more severe sentence”, explains the criminal lawyer, Me François-David Bernier.

But finding Paul Mukendi may be difficult, according to the former Sûreté du Québec (SQ) investigator Roger Ferland.

“You have to understand that Mr. Mukendi still has immense financial resources and we understand that he also has faithful who support him. So you understand the difficulty right now. The collaboration of the people around him may not be very great. So the police are going to have to be extremely creative, ”he said.

Through a press release from his organization, Paul Mukendi said “to flee the injustice of which he is a victim”.

Informed of the “Great cult of truth” held by faithful of Mukendi, the Police Department of the City of Quebec (SPVQ) says to keep an eye open to grapple on the man on the run, but gives no detail on the current investigation. A tune-up could be made on Monday, however.
