With Ferragosto now over, we leave behind one of the most loved and desired summer celebrations. In addition to bonfires on the beach and drinking in company, in fact, there is above all an activity that everyone loves to do on this special day, namely eating. On the other hand, as during the other holidays, food also plays an almost central role in August.
Among grilled meats, pizzas and tasty traditional dishes, few can resist the temptation to eat more than usual during this day. Precisely for this reason the following days are characterized by a feeling of heaviness and swelling, which can sometimes become difficult to bear.
An annoying nuisance
The mid-August lunch is just an example, but abdominal swelling and therefore the formation of intestinal gas and air in the stomach represent a widespread disorder that often lasts a long time, until it becomes really annoying. Many people, in fact, complain of perceiving this sensation not only after large meals, but also when they limit themselves with food.
The causes for this can be various, attributable to many different factors. Precisely for this reason the best thing to do is to try. Finding out which habits can turn out to be a cause and, consequently, try to eliminate them.
More useful than tummy-flat foods, this is the habit to stop in order to defeat the swelling
As we said it is an extremely widespread disorder. It is no coincidence, in fact, that we have dealt with it several times. Speaking not only of the causes, but revealing, for example, also what might work to get rid of it. Today we will go to deepen this topic again focusing, however, not so much on food but rather on a habit. Which, if done daily, could play a role in causing this annoyance. In fact, more useful than tummy-flat foods, this is the habit to stop in order to defeat the swelling.
We refer to a custom of many, namely that of lying down or even falling asleep immediately after a main meal. Whether for an afternoon nap or for the night, it is very important to wait at least an hour before bedtime. Otherwise the digestive system will suffer greatly, struggling to complete the digestion work with ease.
The consequences of such behavior will not only translate into a possible burning stomach and reflux but also in the annoying abdominal swelling. For this reason, in addition to the intake of light and easily digestible foods, it is above all essential to correct this behavior. Otherwise, not only will we nullify the progress we have made with the diet, but we will only make the problem worse.
