Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —
Thousands of positive cases of corona virus (Covid-19) announced by the Covid-19 Handling Task Force today, Sunday (22/8), shows that Indonesia cannot yet be categorized as safe. Handling effectively is still a big task for the government to be able to free the nation from the Covid-19 attack.
DKI Jakarta, which had entered into a difficult situation, was claimed to be in the green zone. This zone has the meaning, an area without confirmed cases or there are several cases of infection but come from other areas.
The following is a complete summary of today’s Covid-19 condition.
Covid-19 case developments
Positive cases of Covid-19 today, or one day before the end of the Implementation of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM), increased by 12,408. With this, the total positive cases of Covid-19 in Indonesia reached 3,979,456 people.
Of that number, 3,546,324 people have recovered. Patients who recovered from the Covid-19 infection increased by 24,276 from the previous day.
Meanwhile, an additional 1,030 patients died today, bringing the total death toll in Indonesia to 126,372 people.
DKI Jakarta Green Zone
The Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta, Ahmad Riza Patria, claimed that the capital city area was included in the green zone category. It can be seen from the positive cases which are experiencing a downward trend from day to day.
Riza also said that herd immunity against Covid-19 had already been established in DKI Jakarta. This is thanks to the Covid-19 vaccination which has targeted 9 million people.
“Alhamdulillah, Jakarta has entered the green zone and has met herd immunity,” Riza said while reviewing the vaccination center at the Al-Azhar Grand Mosque in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, as reported by Antara, Sunday (22/8).
Vaccination for Study
DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said assemblies or recitation groups could only be attended by congregants who had been injected with the Covid-19 vaccine. According to him, this needs to be done to protect the health of the congregation.
Anies said this in the webinar ‘The Role of Mosques in the Midst of the Covid-19 Pandemic’ which was held by the Gelora Party virtually, Sunday (22/8).
“In the end, if these assemblies want to open, only those who have been vaccinated must participate. Why? To be safe, to be protected,” said Anies.
Thousands of Children Lost Parents
The Surabaya City Government (Pemkot) recorded around 1,400 children became orphans due to the loss of their parents during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Surabaya City Government confirmed that it would guarantee the cost of the children’s daily needs and education up to university level. In addition, the Surabaya City Government will also build a dormitory to be occupied by the children.
“We are still calculating the number of children from the data from 1,400 families. From there we can map how many are still in elementary, middle, and high school,” said Surabaya Mayor Eri Cahyadi, Sunday (22/8).
Tourist Restrictions in Gunungkidul
Thousands of people were barred from entering the Gunungkidul South Coast area, Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY), this weekend. Prospective tourists were netted at four levy collection posts (TPR), including TPR Sadeng, TPR Wediombo, TPR Watulumbung, and TPR Siung.
Not a few are also caught in several rat paths or alternatives to the beach area.
The SAR Coordinator of Region I Satlinmas of Gunungkidul Regency, Sunu Handoko, explained that potential tourists were barred from entering considering that all tourist areas in DIY, including Gunungkidul, were still closed during the PPKM Level 4.
“For the past two days, around 1,500 people have been brought in. Recently, a group of 30 ride-hailing motorcycles were all (repelled),” said Sunu when contacted, Sunday (22/8).
