Citizens Win 5-0, Grealish Scores

Manchester City immediately rose in the second week Premier League after being beaten by Tottenham Hotspur. Colored by Jack Grealish’s debut goal, the Citizens won 5-0 over Norwich City.

In the match which was held at the Etihad stadium, Saturday (21/8/2021) night WIB, City appeared dominant with 16 attempts, four of which were on goal and resulted in goals. Norwich were only given one chance to open fire.

Leading 2-0 in the first half through an own goal by Tim Krul and Jack Grealish, City extended their lead in the second half through goals from Aymeric Laporte, Raheem Sterling and Riyad Mahrez.

City also won their first win of the season and moved up to fourth place in the standings with three points. Norwich are bottom of the table with zero points and have already conceded eight goals.

City who need a win immediately step on the gas since the early minutes. The result in the seventh minute, City had led 1-0 through an own goal Tim Krul who tried to parry the ball kick Gabriel Jesus, which had been blocked by Norwich captain Grant Hanley.

City had doubled the score in the 15th minute when a counter-attack led by Bernardo Silva was able to penetrate the Norwich defense. He then passed the ball to Ferran Torres who had held the ball for a moment, before breaking into Krul’s goal.

However, the goal was disallowed by the referee because in the VAR broadcast, Silva first violated Milot Rashica when he won the ball. However, the VAR decision did not stop City’s explosiveness which continued to attack the Norwich defense.

Jack Grealish finally opened the tap for City in the 20th minute. Jesus’ hard work from the right was ended by a tug at the far post which passed four Norwich players.

There was Grealish who actually hit the ball with his knee but Krul was misled, so the goal was broken.

City tried to add another goal but until the break, the score was 2-0 held for their lead. In the second half, City still dominated the game.
