“Access to care is not limited”

At the entrance to the Saverne hospital, it is clearly specified that the health pass, in force since August 9, is required. And checks are systematically carried out by agents. However, the director of the Sainte-Catherine hospital, Mélanie Viatoux, insists: “access to care is not limited”. Because for patients who can not prove this sesame, for whatever reason, it is possible to benefit from a “pass”. This is issued to all those who have “an appointment for a consultation which cannot be postponed for medical reasons: urgent diagnosis, regular monitoring, risk of loss of luck for example”. It is granted only following a request to the secretariats of the departments concerned.

Anticipate medical appointments

Obviously, if you have not completed, or started, your vaccination course, the easiest way is to anticipate your medical appointments by doing an antigen test in a pharmacy the day before. As a reminder, a negative result serves as a health pass for 72 hours.

In addition, the director recalls that emergencies are obviously open access. With these different devices, “the hospital continues to play its role by applying the law”, concludes the one who is delighted with a high rate of vaccination within its healthcare teams.

Delta variant: the majority of cases

This protection is all the more essential since, like everywhere else, they now face the Delta variant of the Covid: “this is the majority of cases”, indicates Mélanie Viatoux. Patients there also younger than during the previous epidemic waves: “we took care of a 38-year-old woman in serious condition”, cites Mélanie Viatoux as an example. In terms of Covid hospitalizations in intensive care, the Saverne hospital had three at the end of this week. “We are not in the proportions before, but we remain very vigilant: we have suspicions of Covid very regularly in Emergencies …”
