How Long Do Pfizer, AZ, and Moderna Vaccines Protect from Corona?

VIVA – A recent study from the University of Oxford reveals how long protection lasts vaccine COVID-19.

The yet-to-be peer-reviewed study looked at 700,000 people who had swab tests as part of the COVID-19 Infection Survey. Analyzes were carried out before and after the Delta variant, so that the researchers could assess the effectiveness of the vaccination against it.

From this study, it is known that two doses of Pfizer vaccine has greater effectiveness against the Delta variant when compared to AstraZeneca injections. But its efficacy also declined more rapidly, according to early research.

Protection from infection a month after getting the second Pfizer dose was 90 percent greater than for people who were not vaccinated. This efficacy decreased to 85 percent after two months and 78 percent after three months.

For AstraZeneca, the equivalent protections were 67 percent, 65 percent and 61 percent, the researchers said. Therefore, scientists say, after four to five months, the vaccine offers a similar defense against Delta infection. But the AstraZeneca vaccine retains its overall effectiveness.

On the other hand, one injection modern vaccines have the same or greater effectiveness against the Delta variant as other vaccines. But the researchers added they did not have data on the second dose of the American-made vaccine.
