Toyota is a promoter of the use of hydrogen technology in transport. It has sold over 11,000 cars worldwide, the only issue of which is clean water. The greater expansion of these cars has so far been hampered by insufficient pumping infrastructure.

The seller of the piece, which is on display in the Lower Vítkovice area of Ostrava until Wednesday, is the Autobond Group. Its director Milan Štědra said that the first and so far the only hydrogen vehicle sold in the Czech Republic can now be seen in Ostrava. It was bought by the company of the Ostrava businessman Jan Světlík. He said that he wanted to build a hydrogen filling station in Ostrava soon.

The Mirai NG20, whose price starts at 1.7 million crowns, is the second generation of this model. It is a luxury sedan with a length of 4,975 meters with rear-wheel drive. It has an output of 182 horsepower. It accelerates from zero to 100 kilometers per hour in nine seconds and can travel at a maximum speed of 175 kilometers per hour. Hydrogen fuel weighing 5.6 kilograms will hold three high-pressure tanks at the rear. The car travels more than 650 kilometers on one tank, the filling time of the tank is about five minutes.

However, there are no publicly available hydrogen filling stations in the Czech Republic yet. However, several of them are being built or planned – in Prague, Litvínov and Brno, filling stations are being set up at Benzina petrol stations, and in the near future more filling stations should be built under the direction of local transport companies in Ústí nad Labem and Ostrava.

DOV director Tomáš Šiřina stated that the intention to present the car follows the ambitions of Vítkovice and Cylinders Holding. Over time, these Světlík companies want to build a hydrogen part of the Hydrogen District in Ostrava.

Ostrava residents will be able to see the car in the next few days. “The Toyota Mirai is a standard car, so it will leave the exhibition in the Big World of Technology and return to it briefly as needed. The next return date is from August 30 to September 2, “said DOV spokeswoman Eva Kijonková.
