The Aschaffenburg Water Management Office is under new management. The area of ​​responsibility of the Aschaffenburg Water Management Office as a specialist water management authority includes the districts of Aschaffenburg, Miltenberg, Main-Spessart, Würzburg and Kitzingen as well as the independent cities of Aschaffenburg and Würzburg in Lower Franconia.

The 60-year-old Friedrich Altmann is a civil engineer and most recently worked for several years as a consultant at the Bavarian State Ministry for the Environment and Consumer Protection. Born in Ansbach, he studied civil engineering at the Technical University of Munich, specializing in hydraulic engineering and urban water management. The following legal traineeship for the higher civil engineering administration service in the Bavarian water management administration he completed in 1988 with a successful state examination, it says in the press release.

This was followed by around five years in the government of Central Franconia from 2008 as a consultant for issues relating to urban water management. In addition, during this time he took on the role of a central advice center for public procurement for the entire Bavarian water management administration. This was followed by another five years at the government of Middle Franconia as a consultant for hydraulic engineering.

This was followed by about three and a half years at the Bavarian State Ministry for the Environment and Consumer Protection in the Groundwater Supply and Water Supply Department. According to the communication, the focus was on current issues such as groundwater management in view of advancing climate change and the protection of public drinking water abstraction through water protection areas.

These are also the issues that are of particular importance in Lower Franconia, the region with the lowest rainfall in Bavaria, according to the press release. These challenges now have to be mastered in terms of the sustainable use of rivers, streams and groundwater.
