WhatsApp Will Return to Offer Auto-Delete Messages Option After Three Months

JAKARTA – Earlier this year WhatsApp was known to be developing a feature to automatically delete messages in a certain time, and now according to a WABetaInfo report, the company will embed the latest time option for the feature.

Previously, WhatsApp gave messages the option to be deleted automatically after a period of one to seven days, and there was also an option to delete media files after being viewed once by the recipient.

Citing Techradar, Thursday, August 19, WABetaInfo took a look at the new options in the latest beta version of WhatsApp for Android. In addition to the 24-hour option that has been in testing for several months, there is now also a 90-day automatic deletion setting.

While the new settings don’t work yet, even in the beta version of the app, WhatsApp is building to give users the ability to have messages they send be deleted after three months have passed. So far it’s been rumored that the new 90-day option will remain a beta-only option for some time.

This is because WhatsApp requires feedback from testers on how the feature is being implemented. Is useful, and works well. However, it’s not clear when WhatsApp will fully release this feature, but things could change before the public rollout.

But still, WhatsApp’s efforts can’t prevent the recipient from saving the lost message by taking a screenshot. However, WhatsApp deserves a thumbs up for doing research on what users need.
